Southern Chile, Lake District
The Fundo El Salto Lodge is conveniently located
on the Lake Crossing route between Chile and Argentina.
Located on 85 acres of native rainforest inside of a spectacular
national park, the lodge sits at the base of the Osorno Volcano;
it is undeniably one of Chile’s most beautiful spots. Guided
excursions such as cultural tours to local villages and markets,
trekking and hiking within the many trails inside the park,
horseback riding and mountain biking along the river, photographic
safaris through the temperate rain forest forest, and multi-class
white water rafting are arranged. Fly fishing enthusiasts float
or wade fish for wild brown and rainbow trout on local spring
creeks, the Petrohué, and other nearby streams.
This lodge is managed by the Dufflocq family,
a signature of service excellence in Chile. The lodge is a charming
early-1900’s farmhouse, modernized with 5 bright, country-style
bedrooms with private bathrooms. The Fundo El Salto is renowned
for exquisite food, fantastic selection Chilean wines, and attentive
service. An incredible team of experienced guides/ instructors
and staff will make your stay a memorable one. The lodge
is ideal for families and small groups.
Details:
Walking, hiking, horseback riding, Fly fishing, mountain biking,
photographic safaris, white water rafting; 4 nights minimum stay.
Activity level is easy to difficult; novice to expert fishing
expertise. Begins/ends in Puerto Montt/Petrohué Pier. Departures
are November to May. Maximum group size is 10. Catch-and-release
fishing.
Location of the Lodge: This
lodge is located 35 miles from the scenic village of Puerto Varas
in the heart of Chile's Lake District. Activities are mainly done
in the vicinity of Vicente Perez Rosales National Park, very close
to the lodge.
How to get there: Fly or navigate
to the city of Puerto Montt, once there a lodge vehicle will pick
you up and drive you to the lodge. The drive will take approximately
1 hour and twenty minutes. If you are driving; go to the
town of Puerto Varas and continue around the South eastern shore
of lake Llanquihue to the village of Ensenada (30 miles ) , from
there continue to the Petrohue falls ( 5 miles ), drive
for 50 more yards and turn left.
